Who I am, and why I'm here. Hi! My name is Kristy Zeluff, and this is my first semester at Wayne State. I decided to pursue my MLIS when it became obvious that I needed to evolve, professionally. I am undecided, at the moment, about where I would like to land when I complete my coursework. I'm drawn to public libraries, but am excited to find out more about Information Architecture, and really enjoy helping people de-mystify and embrace technology. I live in Portage, Michigan, on the west side of the state, so I am an online student. |

Education and Employment I have a BA from Michigan State in Speech Pathology and Audiology, but have never worked in the field. I've spent the last 12+ years making my living as a writer, which is a lot less exciting than it sounds... I've worked as a technical writer for software houses, producing user's manuals and online help systems. For the last five years, I've been freelance, which is a wildly unpredictable way to make a living. Currently, I do search-engine-optimized content for dentistry websites. Like so many people in my profession, my technological skills are largely self-taught, and in many cases I know just enough to be dangerous. I look forward to filling in some of the gaps in my technological education. |
On a Personal Note My husband Mike and I have a blended family, with five children between us. They are Katie (20), Cody (19), Alexi (12), Zoe (7) and Tobin (5), and they keep us standing on a lot of sidelines and perpetually knee-deep in laundry. In my spare time (a term that makes me smirk), I love to read, garden and cook. I am a runner, and enjoy competing in triathlons and local road races. My favorite pastime, though, is riding my Honda CRF230 dirt bike on the trails near our cabin in Baldwin. I look forward to getting to know many of you - look me up on Facebook, or check out my website if you'd like to connect. |
