TriathaMom

The philosophy. The bragging rights.

The triathlon t shirts!

You work out before dawn, at naptime, after bedtime stories, or
whenever you can finagle a sitter.

Your playlist includes Disney tunes.

You are a triathlete, and a mother. One is your pride, the other your joy.

TriathaMom was born in the hills of Vanderbilt Avenue, in the twilight hours of July, 2008. Most fledgling triathletes dread the swim or the run - for me, it was the bike. And how I hated those Vanderbilt hills, with the narrow, sandy shoulders and rutted pavement. To survive, I pictured myself crossing the finish line with my wildly cheering family looking on... Voila! TriathaMom.

I wasn't a high school stand-out, an olympic hopeful, or even a runner until a few years ago. I will break no records. I am NEVER going to do an Ironman. I'm just a Mom, like a million other Moms, who found my Zen one plodding step at a time.

I run for a lot of reasons, many of them self-serving. I run because there are little people watching me, and I want them to see me strive. Sometimes I run because right now, they can’t follow me. But always I run because someday, I hope they will.
